Going on a picnic with family or your beloved ones is an interesting option during holidays or weekends. This, in fact, gives people moments of relaxation with nature. Using specialized bicycle type for touring can help to go on longer journey. In addition, you can go through dirt roads or trails that only that kind of bicycle can get through. In this article, we will show you how get ready for a bike trip.

Prepare for some essential items

When traveling by bike, you should bring some essential items such as helmet, spare bike tubes and some multi-function tools. For long journeys, you should equip yourself with other things, for instance: lubricants, links, spare brakes and the bike locker.

If traveling at night, we recommend you to bring high-powered bicycle heading lights (mounted on helmet or handle bar). You can also use other professional accessories such as padded shorts, cycling gloves, a pair of specialized cycling shoes. However, these items need time for you to get used to before the trip.

Do not forget the sleeping bag, tent, survival equipment which are necessary for any trip. Especially when you intend to sleep outside.

Keep pace with your pedal preference

When cycling on a picnic, do not rush and release your energy too early. This, in turn, can lead to physical exhaustion, which makes you to be slow down and later exhausted and difficult to continue the journey.

While pedaling, keep your breath deep, steady and comfortable so that your heart rate is regulated and stable when cycling. Once you get used to and catch the beat, you should slowly speed up, use more strength and step on your foot.

Adjust your cycling position

When using a trekking bike or touring bike, your upper body must be relaxed to reduce energy consumption. We believe finding the best bike fit will help you not to be tired when going on long journey. Try to slightly arch your elbow. This will help your body relax and good for breathing.

Deep Breath

Cyclists usually only use the upper half of the lung so that they will strongly gasp when riding up the slope. This causes the muscles in your body to receive limited oxygen. Expert advice in this case is that you should breathe deeply so that your lungs are fully oxygenated, help you regulate your breathing and reduce the pressure when traveling in dangerous roads.

Others

Picnic by bike means you will have to resist the weight of equipment and yourself. Therefore, the following should be noted:

Limit your speed, especially when downhill

Keep a safe distance from the vehicle ahead

Wide-angle crab for better observation

Adjust the disc and bike chain to ensure safety
