The principle of this design is to weld the seat stays on 2 different positions: Top tube and Seat tube

Seat stays welded on the Seat tube: 2-1

Seat stays go around the Seat tube

and are welded on the Top tube and Seat tube: 2-1-1

By lengthening the seat stays to not only attach to the seat tube but also weld directly to the sides of the top tube, ASAMA has decreases the height of the rear and front triangle. It results in a lower Stand-Over.

It's easier and safer to hop on and off and it gives to the rider more space to move on the bike.

Thanks to the wider space between the 2 seat stays and the much bigger contact surface, not only will the stronger frame last longer, but the increased rigidity will improve responsiveness in pedaling and steering. Torsional and lateral flexion is greatly reduced. The power you put in the pedal is directly transferred to your wheel without lateral flexion.

Rigidity is good for energy transfer. However, you obviously don't want that shocks coming from the ground be transferred fully to your body. This would result into backache and fatigue. That's the 3rd advantage of this design.

By making the seat stay longer and with a lower angle compared to the ground, we increase its ability to have a vertical flex. It will act as a damper. Compared with a standard design directly connected straightly to the seat tube, this design dissipates part of the vibrations.

2-1-1 is stronger, easier/safer to ride, more confortable and more efficient.
